The Map shows the increase in the number of reported cases of hate crime in some of the major cities in the United States, comparing the year 2019 which was before the Covid-19 pandemic, and the year 2020, which is after the pandemic has started. The Boxes point toward the respective cities, and inside the box is the name of the city, the increase in number of reported hate crimes, and if there is, the increase in percentage compared to the previous year. The data suggest especially in the cities, which have the tendency to have a much more diverse population, there is a large increase in hate crimes against Asians, as especially in New York, there is a extreme rise in the number of hate crimes, which increased by 833%. While this does not include 2021 and the more violent Anti-Asian hate crimes such as the infamous Atlanta shootings, it nevertheless vividly shows the increase in racism against the Asian population.
