Macro-Regions

This class explained how China transformed itself from a socialist country to a capitalist giant between 1978 and 2008 through the story of twelve Chinese macro regions. In the final assignment, each student picked one macro region as his/her research focus, placed its economic performance in the overall growth of China, and explain the competitive advantages or disadvantages that determined its performance. By creating maps as visual guide to their research essays, students also divide each macro region divided into four to five sub-regions and organize their narratives around the geographical and economic landmarks indicated on the maps.
